Online Screenwriting Workshops

Learn Screenwriting Online at NYFA

In addition to our in-person programs and workshops, NYFA’s Screenwriting School offers a series of online workshops. These hands-on workshops provide aspiring writers with the opportunity to practice writing and bring their story ideas to life in live, interactive classes.

Students are trained in character and story development, as well as how to build worlds, and deploy themes, in addition to important industry best practices. Under the mentorship of our experienced faculty of professional writers, students receive feedback and guidance to help them strengthen their concepts and scripts.

Unlike other online courses, in NYFA’s Hands-Online workshops, you will meet your professors and your classmates in the virtual classroom, share your ideas and collaborate on your projects. This is not just a series of videos to watch and prompts to answer like many other online courses. The NYFA hands-online workshop is a real studio course in the online environment. No prerequisites or prior experience is required to attend.

Beginners will gain foundational screenwriting skills and knowledge and more advanced students will have the opportunity to refine their craft.

A selection of workshops require a prerequisite or submission of full treatment and beat sheet. Additional video lessons are posted online and may be viewed according to a student’s personal schedule.
