Alex KahuamFILMMAKER
Alex Kahuam is a Mexico City-born director who earned his BFA in Filmmaking from the New York Film Academy in 2015. He directed and wrote feature films So, You Want to Be a Gangster?, which was distributed on Amazon Prime Video, and Forgiveness. Kahuam has also written and directed multiple short films including Red Light and LAX.
The filmmaker’s film Forgiveness (2021) is now available to stream everywhere on Apple TV, Amazon Prime, Google Play, and more. The story follows three women who mysteriously awaken in a hospital only to discover that one of them is deaf, one is mute, and the other one is blind. Together they have to figure out why they are there and how to get out.
His feature film, Failure! starring Ted Raimi, was shot entirely in a single-take (90 min) making him the first Mexican director in the history of cinema to accomplish a feature film with no cuts in the United States and is one of the few directors globally to have successfully achieved this. The film was selected in a new genre showcase section at the Marche Du Film-Cannes Film Festival 2023 called Fantastic Pavilion Galas.
The film gained a lot of momentum after bowing at the inaugural Galas becoming one of the most viewed headlines in Variety twitter with 109,000 views during the festival.
