James Friend

James FriendCinematographer and Producer

British cinematographer and NYFA Alum James Friend is known for his work on Willow (2022), Your Honor (2020), The Acolyte (2024). In 2019, he won an ASC award for Patrick Melrose (2018), and also won a BAFTA TV award for Best Photography & Lighting: Fiction for Rillington Place (2016).

He won the Academy Award for Best Cinematography for All Quiet on the Western Front (2022), as well as a BAFTA Film Award for Best Cinematography. Friend attended two of our short term programs in 2004.
