Khushi Kapoor is one of Bollywood’s brightest rising stars. Born and raised in a Bollywood family, she is the daughter of producer Boney and the late actress Sridevi Kapoor. As she describes in the Student Spotlight video featured below, Kapoor was inspired to become an actress after seeing her mother – an actress herself – at work on film sets.
Seeking a hands-on learning experience where she could learn about film acting and then apply her knowledge, Kapoor attended NYFA in New York City. Kapoor learned a great deal about acting in front of a camera and filming scenes. Not surprisingly, she gained valuable understanding of each scene’s objective during her time at NYFA. She graduated from the 1-Year Acting for Film degree program in 2019. The same year, Kapoor made a guest appearance as herself in an episode of the TV series BFFs with Vogue. After graduating from NYFA, Kapoor subsequently appeared in the 2020 short film Speak Up, directed by Abhishek Joshi.
More recently, Kapoor appeared as herself in Tudum: A Netflix Global Fan Event, previewing her upcoming feature film debut, The Archies. Directed and co-produced by Zoya Akhtar, the Netflix-exclusive film is a live-action coming-of-age musical set in 1960s India and based on the iconic Archie comic series. In The Archies, Kapoor plays deuteragonist Betty Cooper and features alongside fellow Bollywood newcomers Suhana Khan and Agastaya Nanda.
Another of Kapoor’s upcoming projects, currently in pre-production, is the historical war drama The Garhwal Rifles. Directed by Himanshu Binekar and centered on India’s long standing army regiment of the same name, The Garhwal Rifles will star Kapoor as Mohna Tajena alongside Sujit Deol as Commander Ayub Sheikh.
In the NYFA Student Spotlight video below, Kapoor describes how her NYFA experiences shaped her into the rising star she is today.
