BFA Degrees in Film, Media, and Entertainment
NYFA’s Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree programs are designed to provide students with a concentrated education in film, media, and entertainment, supported by an exploration of the liberal arts and sciences. In the BFA programs, students receive practical training through the progression of hands-on projects that increase in complexity. This experience is complemented by practical and theoretical courses, providing a framework for students to learn how to research and build knowledge in their chosen discipline.
As our BFA programs offer ample opportunities for students to complete their own unique content, students can emerge from NYFA with a reel or portfolio that best demonstrates their strengths as a visual storyteller.
Our BFA in Filmmaking and Acting for Film are available at our New York City, Los Angeles, and South Beach campuses. NYFA’s Producing, Screenwriting, Game Design, Photography, 3D Animation & VFX BFA programs are offered at NYFA Los Angeles. The BFA in Entertainment Media and Musical Theatre programs are offered at NYFA New York. To enroll, students must have a high school diploma.
BFA Degree Programs
Accelerated Schedule
NYFA’s Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees are eight and nine semesters, depending on the discipline. With an accelerated schedule that allows students to complete three full-length semesters in each calendar year, the BFA degree can be finished in three years. Our extended academic calendars reflect the nature of our rigorous programs, and help keep students immersed in their area of study. For most programs, students may also take a traditional four-year program. Please note that our Musical Theatre BFA is offered as a four-year program only.
Curriculum
The BFA curriculum is designed to help students build discipline in the creative process through practice and repetition, preparing them to pursue a number of artistic paths. The project-based approach allows students to spend the majority of their time creating content, helping them develop essential skills in visual storytelling and collaboration and develop a tremendous amount of technical and creative training.
