Frequently Asked
Many programs at NYFA include an internship component within the curriculum. NYFA’s campus locations are in art and media industry hubs, providing excellent access to companies seeking interns. Faculty and department chairs will train and advise students on how to look for and acquire internships. To ensure that students can get the most out of internship experiences, and to help create a useful transition to the professional world, most programs that offer internships do so in the final year or semesters of the program. Due to the intensive nature of our programs, it is not recommended that students seek employment or internships outside of their program while studying at NYFA.
Students are the sole owners of all the projects they create during their studies at the Academy. However, the Film Academy reserves the right to use copies of student work for promotional purposes. However, no use of student projects interfere or conflict with submission guidelines to festivals or in the case of the sale of student material. To learn more about student programs, visit NYFA’s Program Finder.
The New York Film Academy maintains the best ratio of equipment to students of any film school in the world. Depending on the program, students check out their camera and lighting packages day-by-day, for weekend shoots, or one and two weeks on longer productions. Our editing labs are open with expansive hours at all Film Academy locations. To learn more about the equipment NYFA offers, visit the equipment page.
