Glenn Close was already well-known for her Tony Award-winning Broadway roles when she was cast opposite Robin Williams in The World According to Garp. This began a string of Academy Award-nominated performances, including The Big Chill, The Natural, Fatal Attraction, and Dangerous Liaisons. Her career has continued in a variety of acclaimed comedic and dramatic roles, and has starred in television shows such as Damages. Most recently, Close won Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama at the 2019 Golden Globes for her performance in the film, The Wife.
