ZACH BAYLINWRITER

Zach Baylin an Oscar-nominated screenwriter known for his work on King Richard (2021), Side Effects (2013), and Creed III (2022). Baylin has been nominated for an Academy Award, BAFTA, and WGA who writes grounded, kinetic, character-driven stories. He was named one of VARIETY’s 2021 “10 Screenwriters to Watch.”

The guest speaker’s recently penned script for King Richard for Warner Bros. Studios, was number two on the 2018 BLACKLIST . Marking his feature film screenwriting debut, the film is based on the father of tennis greats, Venus and Serena Williams, and tells the true story of Richard Williams’ plan to take his daughters from the streets of Compton, California to the global stage as legendary icons.

The film stars Will Smith, Jon Bernthal, Tony Goldwyn and directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, King Richard debuted to rave reviews out of the 2021 Telluride Film Festival and was released in theaters and HBO Max in 2021.

He is currently writing the script for Creed III, the third installment of the revamped Rocky series for MGM. The film will star Michael B. Jordan, who will also be making his directorial debut through the project, and is set to release November 23, 2022. Previously, Baylin has also written projects for Lionsgate, Imagine, TNT, Studio 8, WIIP, as well as for acclaimed filmmakers such as James Grey, Jeremy Saulinier, Francesco Munzi, and Jonathan Levine.

Apart from writing, Baylin has also worked in the art department on dozens of film and television projects in New York including Boardwalk Empire, Mildred Pierce, The Blacklist, A Walk Amon the Tombstone, Gossip Girl, Side Effects, and Dave Chappelle’s Block Party.
