Acting for Film and Filmmaking Camps
NYFA Miami offers a selection of summer camps in filmmaking and acting for film, where students study under the guidance of professional filmmakers and actors. Throughout the camps, students make short films, learning the filmmaking process and how to make their own original content.
Located in on the historic Lincoln Road, NYFA Miami campus is within walking distance to a variety of filming locations, as well as entertainment, dining, theater, and art venues, as well as the beach.
Programs
Whether students choose to be behind the camera or in front of it, our summer camps are a great opportunity for aspiring visual storytellers to get their start. During the programs, teens aged 14-17 and kids aged 10-13 will write, direct, shoot, edit, and act in their own short films.

Facilities
NYFA’s Miami campus is close-knit community of visual artists, filmmakers, and actors, making it an ideal environment for campers to grow as visual storytellers. Students will take their classes and study in our expansive, evolving space that is just around the corner from the Miami Convention Center and a block away from the beach.
Faculty
NYFA’s faculty of filmmakers and actors are active in the film, television, and entertainment industries, and bring a wealth of experience to NYFA. During our summer camps, students receive mentorship and guidance in their field of study, giving them the opportunity to enhance their natural talents.
Teens
During our summer camps, students aged 14-17 get hands-on training in filmmaking or acting for film. To learn more, please visit our teen camps page.
The programs for teens at NYFA Miami are currently designed for commuting students. While our NYFA New York and Los Angeles campuses offer residential housing for camps, campers attending Miami programs are responsible for their own residential housing.
South Beach, a neighborhood in Miami, is extremely walkable, with access to affordable public transportation such as a free trolley. During off-campus activities, students are escorted by faculty. Students that shoot on location in Miami work in crews of 3-4 students and are under the supervision of Teaching Assistants. In the rare event of a medical emergency, students are taken to the nearest hospital.
While no student is permitted to explore alone, teen campers may patronize establishments in small groups. Students must visit areas local to the campus, informing their counsellors of their destination and adhering to all safety rules. Parents who wish to allow their children to leave campus without supervision, must submit a written authorization for every occurrence to the New York Film Academy. Even with permission, excursions without supervision may still be limited as determined by NYFA staff.
During their time at NYFA Miami, students may wish to take part in local exciting activities. Students will be responsible for additional costs such as souvenirs and snacks, as well as transportation.
During our camps, students need to supply their own meals. For lunch, students may visit local eateries with their classmates as long as they check in and out with a counselor. Students who are commuting from home to camps will need to bring their own packed lunch or funds to purchase food near campus.
Kids
The summer day camps at NYFA Miami teach students aged 10-13 how to create their own short films and content. Students will complete fun projects and participate in local field trips, engaging games, and group exercises. To learn more about our kids programs, please visit our kids camps page.
We do not offer housing for kids, and all students aged 10-13 must commute or secure their own local housing.
Students will be directly supervised by our faculty and staff while on-campus and off-campus for any project work or class activities.
Students in our day camp will need to provide their own bag lunch. All students will remain on-campus during their lunch break.
