In NYFA’s 1-Week Photography Workshop in Florence, Italy, students will experiment and explore several genres of photography, developing their unique style and building their portfolio.

Throughout their week at NYFA Florence, students will be introduced to the people, traditions, and customs of Italy, allowing the architecture and landscapes to shape and refine their work. Due to the intensive nature of the workshop, students quickly learn the essentials of photography through hands-on experience in the field and rigorous coursework. No prior experience is required to attend.

At NYFA Florence, aspiring photographers will develop the skills necessary to compose, and capture digital photographic projects. Every day of the workshop, students can expect to be actively shooting, editing, and assessing the images they take, expanding their repertoire of techniques with light and shadow, while exploring the city or Florence.

Students must bring their own digital camera with manual exposure control.

At NYFA Florence, aspiring photographers develop the skills necessary to research, compose, and capture digital photographic projects. Every day of the workshop, students can expect to be actively shooting, editing, and assessing the images they take, expanding their repertoire of techniques with light and shadow as they work with professional lighting and grip hardware. Students must bring their own digital camera with manual exposure control.

NYFA also offers the possibility to learn photography from anywhere through a variety of online photography workshops.

1 Week Photography Program Schedule

Day One: Understanding your camera, Lightroom basics, photo walk to the Ponte Vecchio and Oltrarno

Day Two: Street and portrait photography; photo walk to Cappelle Medicee for street portraits, Image editing in Lightroom

Day Three: Landscape photography; Field trip into Tuscan hill towns and countryside

Day Four: Image editing in Lightroom, balancing daylight and strobe; strobe on the street

Day Five: Studio shoot, final edit of weeks work, final presentation and review of portfolio
