When I first became interested in films and acting, I had no real idea what either of them entailed beyond what I saw on the big screen at the theatre, and since my curiosity never left me, I decided to enroll in the NYFA BFA Acting for Film program. Since then, my classes, peers and professors have opened up a whole new world for me that I have come to appreciate and am proud to be part of. I cannot wait to use all the techniques and tools that I have learned here to continue my journey into the film industry.
I am back home and trying to unite all my thoughts about the weeks I spent in Princeton, doing the acting program. All the hours away from Salzburg made me rich in my mind and still occupy my soul. My heart and my mind seem to still be away. I miss the people, I miss the classes and I miss the work. The work, that forced me to give all my best; the work, that forced me to share my deepest feelings.
I decided to become an actress, because I want to share my emotions and feelings with audiences that never talk about their fears and emotions. I like the audience to lose their invisible turtle shells. I want them to laugh or cry, when they feel like it. We had so many great teachers who taught me how to do that. Please, thank them for everything they’ve done in all their classes. I thank you for all the experiences and amazing teachers.
NYFA taught me how to start my career on my own, how to start putting myself out there, look for an agent, a manager, and how to build material to present myself to this massive industry. I’ve met so many actors that don’t know where to start.
If you’re looking for that “next step” to further your acting experience, NYFA is the place to learn. Before the 4-Week program in Florence, I was strictly a live theatre actor with an interest in film, but now I leave with film experience, an understanding of cinematography, footage for reels, and network connections with classmates and professors. Studying in Italy has been incredible and it was the perfect place from which to draw inspiration as an artist and see how impactful art can be to our culture and history.
What we do as actors is important and courageous work and I was fearful of failing in my attempt to make a career of it, but after this workshop, I have never felt more prepared to pursue the craft and I am so grateful to our NYFA family for making Florence a home away from home. Ciao!
The NYFA program in Florence was an amazing experience to not only enhance and learn about the industry but to make connections and learn from people all over the world. I would highly recommend this program to anyone interested in extra training to enhance their craft and engage in a new cultural experience. The staff is dedicated to their art form and extremely encouraging. I would highly recommend this program if you’re considering a study abroad program, or simply looking for a workshop.
