Develop Audition and Acting Skills
In the level-two 12-Weekend Kids Acting Workshop, students aged 10-13 continue to pursue their interest in film acting. Through more advanced exercises, students strengthen their acting skills and gain more experience in front of the camera. As this program acts as a continuation to some of our level-one programs, students must have taken a prerequisite to attend.
Program Description
Program Name: 12-Weekend Acting for Film II Camp for Kids
Prerequisite: 12-Weekend Acting for Film Camp for Kids
NYFA’s weekend workshop in acting provides an exciting opportunity for young performers to build upon their skills and learn new acting techniques.Throughout the workshop, students study closely with our faculty of active directors and actors to advance and refine their acting techniques, spending a significant amount of time in front of the camera. Similar to our level-one 12-Weekend Acting for Film Workshop, in this hands-on program, students learn to create truthful characters through assigned monologues and scene study. Students study major aspects of film acting including blocking, partner and moment to moment work, and given circumstances, providing opportunities to practice auditioning and memorization. Students may also learn some of the self-marketing tactics used in the industry.
As their primary project, students complete two contrasting monologues, as well as a scene with a professional actor, which are recorded and edited by our faculty. At the end of the workshop, students receive a USB drive with a copy of their work. Students may also invite family and friends to a special end-of-camp screening. Throughout the program, students need to bring their own lunch.
